Project Description

HEAD OF A HORSE LAUGHING  –   Sculpture by Salvador Dali

Head of a horse laughing (aka “Head of a laughing horse”)

The incongruous and eccentric world of surrealism is expressed “dazzlingly”, as Dali himself put it, in this head of a laughing horse that dreams of becoming Pegasus or a Unicorn.

It belongs to Dali’s metaphysical universe, a crystalline form distilled over millennia, like a stalactite or stalagmite; one of the mythical creatures formed from the minerals of the earth or pre-lunar magma, like a Diplodocus, or a harbinger of the great steed that would take the most agile and daring athletes to victory, making them win the oil amphora from the sacred olive trees of the Acropolis at the lustral ceremony.
