Project Description

MONSTROUS DIVINITY  –   Sculpture by Salvador Dali

Monstrous Divinity (aka «Bust – Foot»)

Lithe siren-goddess, whose fish-tail Dali has decided to change into a gigantic foot.  She walks the Earth transforming into riches everything she touches.  Dali, faithful always to his phantasmagorias, creates enigmas using inventions of his own; elements from fairytales and magical and esoteric associations.  He claims these details to be mythical, but undoubtedly he makes them up from time to time.

Monstrous and divine; could there be a greater contradiction? And yet, the reality from which Dali hardly ever departs, since even the apparently unreal has a certain cosmic logic in it, is present.  It is in a corner, distorted, seen in an unusual way, but it is still there nevertheless.
