Sculpture created by Dali for the International Sea Exhibition held on the Japanese island of Okinawa in 1975.  Dali was inspired by the historical events that took place in Okinawa in 1945, when U.S. troops disembarked to set a naval and air base in this Pacific Island as strategic point against Japan during World War II.

Japan won the right to sovereignty over the island of Okinawa in 1972.
