Project Description

STEEL MASK (aka LUCKY CHARM)  –   Sculpture by Salvador Dali

Steel Mask (aka «Lucky Charm»)

… a face with no identity is here turned in to a sacred object…

A face with no identity is here turned into a sacred object.  With his creative genius and his own hands, Dali engendered an irregular face that startles while transmitting its magic power. The predominant forms in this piece are the big blind eye sockets and the great open mouth, each possessing a symbolism of a ritual nature, beneficent and purifying. These magic powers with which Dali invested his sculpture were determined by his belief in his own magic divinity.
